This conference seeks to explore the transformation of risk into resilience for journalists by examining global best practices, legal frameworks, technological tools, and psychological support systems. The event will bring together academics, media professionals, policymakers, and human rights advocates to discuss innovative strategies for protecting journalists and fostering a culture of safety in diverse environments. Special attention will be given to interdisciplinary collaborations that address safety from political, legal, sociological, and technological perspectives.

Risk Assessment and Management: Strategies for identifying and mitigating risks to journalists in physical and digital spaces.

Legal and Policy Frameworks: National and international measures to safeguard press freedom and journalist safety.

Psychological Resilience: Addressing mental health challenges and building psychological support systems for journalists in high-stress environments.

Technological Innovations: The role of AI, encryption, and cybersecurity in protecting journalists.

Case Studies: Success stories and lessons learned from organizations or regions that have effectively addressed journalist safety.

Researchers, practitioners, and policymakers are encouraged to submit abstracts of up to 300 words, highlighting the relevance and originality of their work.

We invite researchers, journalists, policymakers, and activists to submit abstracts for paper presentations or panel discussions on the conference themes. Submissions should address the challenges and opportunities for ensuring the safety of journalists and promoting press freedom in diverse contexts.

One day of the conference will be dedicated to the presentation of scholarly papers regarding conference topics. These include, but are not limited to, Legal Protection and Accountability, Digital Security, Safety in Conflict Zones, Covering Crisis and Disasters, Trauma Journalism, and Gender and Diversity. We invite researchers, journalists, policymakers, and activists to submit abstracts for paper presentations or panel discussions on the conference themes. Submissions should address the challenges and opportunities for ensuring the safety of journalists and promoting press freedom in diverse contexts. The accepted papers will be added to a collective volume representing the Safety of Journalists Training School and the following international conference.
